PIXEL 4A LEAKS: EVERYTHING WE KNOW SO FAR

Source: GSMArena

The Pixel 3a and 3a XL were some of the most interesting phones last year not for their impressive specs or design but rather their camera capability. For under $400 dollars you could get flagship grade camera quality. The photos from Pixel 3a and 3a XL were comparable to the flagship Pixel 3 and 3 XL in quality and consistency despite shipping with a less powerful processor. The Pixel 4a is one of the most anticipated phones of 2020 due to the success of the Pixel 3a.
So far almost every detail of the Pixel 4a has been leaked, which is not surprising since previous Pixel phones are almost always fully leaked before the launch date. The Pixel 4a is the follow up to the Pixel 3a and the mid-range version of the Pixel 4. The Pixel 4a is basically a stripped-down Pixel 4 with flagship camera quality.

The Specs

A YouTube video uploaded by TechnoLike Plus on 10th March leaked all specs of the Pixel 4a. The video was a hands-on video of a Pixel 4a in Spanish. The Pixel 4a is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset which is an upgrade over last year’s Snapdragon 670 in the Pixel 3a. It is also expected to come with 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage with recent leaks suggesting a 128GB option. From the hands-on video, the Pixel 4a may come with a 5.81”, 1,080 x 2,340 OLED screen. The screen also refreshes at a standard 60Hz unlike 90Hz on the Pixel 4. The phone has a 12 MP rear camera with EIS and can also shoot 4K videos. It also has a 3,080mAH battery which is bigger than the one found in the Pixel 4. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port and dual SIM support with one likely being an eSIM.

The Design

The pixel 4a is expected to come with a punch-hole display housing the 8MP selfie camera. The forehead of the Pixel 4a has been trimmed down compared to the Pixel 4 due to the absence of motion sense technology in the 4a. The back of the 4a is made of plastic with a square camera bump on the top right corner. The camera bump houses a 12.2 MP camera and a flash. It also has a rear mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Cameras

The cameras are always the highlight of Pixel devices and leaked samples from the Pixel 4a does not disappoint. The Pixel 4a may come with a 12.2MP rear-facing sensor with OIS and EIS, and the front-facing camera should be an 8MP sensor identical to the one on the Pixel 3a. Video recording capabilities are likely to be similar to the Pixel 4 at 1080p @ 30 FPS, 60 FPS, 120 FPS, 720p recording @ 240 FPS, and 4K recording @ 30 FPS for the rear camera, and finally, 1080p @ 30 FPS for the front-facing camera. Pixel 4a supposed camera samples were posted by @julio_lusson on twitter comparing it to Redmi Note 7. The pictures are as good as expected and has more contrast compared to the Redmi phone.
Julio Lusson also shared a link to an extensive photoshoot with the Pixel 4a showing night sight samples, portrait samples and astrophotography samples.
